This year was a smaller party, the lighting setup was better, and I did not drink nearly as much. The result is that these pictures are a lot better than last year’s! These were shot on a Fuji GX680 with a 210mm lens which, for 6x8 is about a 100mm equivalent in 35mm field of view. The film stock was Kodak Gold 200. I could have gone with Portra but it’s so much more expensive, especially since I only get 9 shots on a roll. Plus with the huge negatives, grain is not really a problem. All were shot with the same settings: 1/250 at f/11. A 300w strobe shot through a white umbrella provided light. I used a silver umbrella to bounce a little light to the left side of the face but honestly I’m not sure that it had much effect. I also had everyone hold a silver bounce reflector in their laps which worked out great. I did not edit these beyond what the lab scanner did. The scanner must be a bit mis-aligned which caused the black lines to the left of some of the photos. Also I’m pretty sure the shutter is starting to fail on my 210 lens because a couple of the pictures have large unexposed areas. I decided to leave all this in because what’s the point in shooting film anyway?
